Enfidha is a strategic town in the Sousse Governorate, acting as a pivotal transport hub connecting northern and southern Tunisia. It is widely recognized for the Enfidha, Hammamet International Airport, which opened in 2009 and serves as a primary gateway to the popular tourist resorts of Hammamet and Port El Kantaoui. The town's modern history is intertwined with the colonial era, when the vast Enfidaville estate was managed by the Société Franco-Africaine d'Enfidaville. In the town center, an archaeological museum housed in a former church displays a remarkable collection of early Christian mosaics recovered from nearby ancient sites. During World War II, Enfidha was the site of the final Axis defensive stand in Tunisia in May 1943 against the advancing Allied forces. Currently, the region is undergoing significant economic expansion with the development of a major new deep-water commercial port project on the Gulf of Hammamet.
