The site contains the remains of several large coral stone buildings, including a prominent palace, multiple mosques, and an extensive graveyard featuring intricate Shirazi-style tombs. Historical records indicate that the city was abruptly abandoned in the early 19th century, specifically around 1810, following a series of devastating raids by Sakalava pirates from Madagascar.
