Heimberg is located immediately north of Thun in the canton of Bern and is considered the largest municipality in the canton without official town status. Geographically, it is positioned at the transition from the flat Aare Valley into the hilly and mountainous landscape of the Bernese Oberland. Historically, Heimberg gained worldwide fame in the 18th and 19th centuries through its flourishing pottery craft. 'Heimberg ceramics', with its characteristic painting style, was a sought-after export good and continues to shape the cultural heritage of the community today. Nowadays, the village has developed into a modern service and commercial center, with the Lerchenfeld district acting as a significant industrial zone. Its location on the Aare river features numerous leisure opportunities, ranging from riverside hikes to activities in the community large sports centers. Heimberg benefits from a first-class transport infrastructure, including its own motorway access and excellent rail connections to Bern and Thun.
