Technical Museum
The Technical Museum (Tekniska museet) in the Gärdet district of Stockholm is Sweden's largest museum of science and technology. Founded in 1924 by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, it moved to its current functionalist building designed by architect Ragnar Hjorth in 1936. The museum is mandated to preserve and present Sweden's technical and industrial heritage. The collections comprise over 50,000 objects, ranging from historical steam engines and automobiles to early computers and space technology. It is particularly well-known for the interactive 'MegaMind' center, which encourages visitors to experiment and explore their own ideas. The museum also serves as an educational hub, hosting regular temporary exhibitions on contemporary topics such as sustainability, robotics, and the digital transformation of society.
