Ringhals Nuclear Power Plant (Sweden)

Weather…

The Ringhals Nuclear Power Plant is located on the Värö Peninsula in Varberg Municipality on the Swedish west coast. It is Sweden's largest power station, single-handedly accounting for approximately 15 to 20 percent of the nation's total electricity consumption. The facility originally comprised four reactors, with units Ringhals 3 and 4 currently remaining in operation. These pressurized water reactors have a combined capacity of around 2,200 megawatts, supplying energy directly to the country's industrial hubs. Construction at the site began in the late 1960s, with commissioning taking place in stages between 1975 and 1983. Vattenfall is the majority owner with a 70.4 percent stake, while Uniper holds the remaining share. The plant is a vital economic pillar for the Halland region, supporting thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the energy and engineering sectors.
