The Gothenburg City Theatre, situated at the central Götaplatsen square, is one of Sweden's most prestigious drama houses. Opened in September 1934, the building was designed by architect Carl Bergsten and is regarded as an outstanding example of Nordic Classicism and Swedish Art Deco, known as Swedish Grace. The theatre was constructed to replace the older Stora Teatern and is characterized by its innovative stage technology and excellent acoustics.
