Falkenberg is a historic city in Halland County, situated at the mouth of the Ätran River where it flows into the Kattegat. The settlement received its first privileges as early as the 13th century but was formally re-chartered in 1558. A prominent landmark is the Tullbron, a stone bridge completed in 1756, which stands as one of the best-preserved examples of Swedish bridge architecture. Falkenberg has a long-standing tradition as a center for salmon fishing, which remains deeply integrated into local gastronomy and culture. The district of Skrea Strand is famous for its two-kilometer-long sandy beach, establishing the city as a major destination for domestic tourism. Historically, the town was frequently involved in Nordic conflicts due to its proximity to the former Danish border. Today, Falkenberg maintains a well-preserved medieval core while hosting modern industries, particularly in food processing and logistics.
