Landskrona is situated on the Öresund strait in western Scania and was founded in the 15th century. Thanks to its excellent natural harbor, the city quickly developed into a vital strategic and commercial location. Its most significant landmark is the Landskrona Citadel, one of Northern Europe's best-preserved 16th-century fortifications. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the city experienced a major boom driven by shipbuilding and industrial manufacturing. A unique feature of the city is its electric trolleybus line, which is the only one of its kind currently operating in Sweden. Landskrona features an appealing combination of industrial heritage and coastal flair, with numerous parks and historic buildings in its center. Regular ferries depart from here to the pretty island of Ven, known for its scientific history and natural beauty. Today, the city is focused on sustainable development and its role as a modern residential and business hub within the dynamic Öresund region.
