💡 Tips
- Visit the migratory bird sanctuary in winter (November to February) to see rare birds like the Black-faced Spoonbill.
- At the Haenyeo Museum, watch the 15-minute documentary first to gain deeper insight into the local diving culture.
- Use the free telescopes at the wetland observation deck for a closer look at the active bird life in the lagoon.
- Hado Beach is significantly less crowded than other Jeju beaches, making it a first-rate spot for a quiet walk during low tide.
- Look for restaurants labeled 'Haenyeo-uichip', these are typically run by diving cooperatives and offer the freshest catch.
🍽 Food

Hado-ri is located at the eastern tip of Jeju Island and is considered one of the island's best-preserved traditional villages. Hado Beach (하도해변) is famous for its crystal-clear, shallow water that shimmers in various emerald tones, making it well-suited for kayaking. In the immediate vicinity is Sehwa Beach, known for its characterful cafes and the traditional five-day market. The village is a significant center for Haenyeo culture; there is a museum here dedicated to these brave female divers. Nature lovers appreciate the Hado-ri migratory bird sanctuary, where numerous rare bird species can be observed in winter. The landscape is complemented by the typical black stone walls (Batdam) that protect the fields from strong sea winds. Travel from Jeju City takes about an hour by car or coastal bus. Hado-ri provides a peaceful atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, and is an excellent place to enjoy the 'slow life' on Jeju. The view of nearby Udo Island and the majestic Seongsan Ilchulbong makes the visit unforgettable.
