Guri is a city in Gyeonggi-do province, directly bordering the eastern edge of Seoul. Despite its small geographic area, it houses one of Korea's most significant historical sites: Donggu-reung, the largest royal cemetery of the Joseon Dynasty and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This complex contains nine royal tombs, including that of King Taejo, the founder of the dynasty. Geographically, the city is bounded by the Han River to the south, where Guri Hangang Park is famous for its extensive seasonal flower fields. Another cultural highlight is the Goguryeo Blacksmith Village, a film set and open-air museum that showcases the architecture and lifestyle of the ancient Goguryeo Kingdom. Guri acts as a vital transportation hub for the northeastern Seoul metropolitan area. The city is also known for its large-scale wholesale market for agricultural and marine products. The blend of profound history and modern urban infrastructure makes Guri both an attractive residential area and a noteworthy tourist stop.
