Cer Mountain is located in northwestern Serbia, about 30 kilometers south of the city of Šabac. With its highest peak, Trojan, reaching 687 meters, it belongs to the island mountains of the Pannonian margin. The mountain is primarily famous for its outstanding historical significance, as it was the site of the Battle of Cer in August 1914, recognized as the first Allied victory of World War I. Geologically, the massif consists mainly of igneous rocks and schist, which supports lush vegetation. The slopes are densely covered with beech, oak, and hornbeam forests, providing shelter for numerous wildlife species. Beyond its history, Cer is a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts, featuring well-marked trails and viewpoints overlooking the Mačva plain and the Drina valley. The mountain is also home to several monasteries, such as Radovašnica and Čokešina, which serve as important cultural monuments of the region.
