Mount Cer is located in northwestern Serbia, approximately 30 kilometers south of the city of Šabac. With a maximum elevation of 687 meters, it is classified as a low mountain range, yet it holds immense historical and ecological significance. The mountain achieved worldwide fame as the site of the Battle of Cer in August 1914, which was the first Allied victory of World War I, fought between the Serbian Army and Austro-Hungarian forces. Its slopes are covered in thick deciduous forests, primarily oak and beech, providing a vital habitat for various birds of prey. Geologically, the mountain is composed mainly of schist and granite, which has led to the formation of numerous natural springs. Today, Mount Cer is a popular destination for hikers and history enthusiasts, featuring several commemorative monuments and well-marked trails that honor its wartime legacy.
