Wisła, named after Poland's longest river, is a key destination in the Silesian Beskids. It is most famous as the birthplace of Adam Małysz, the legendary ski jumper; a life-sized chocolate statue of him is a quirky local landmark. The town features numerous ski resorts like Soszów and Cieńków, and the Malinka ski jumping hill is a major venue for international World Cup events, drawing sports fans from across Europe. Nature lovers are drawn to Mount Barania Góra, where the springs of the Vistula River originate. Hiking to these sources through the scenic White and Black Vistula valleys is a popular summer activity. Another significant site is the Presidential Castle, a modernist residence for Poland's president located on Zadni Groń hill, which is open to public tours. The local 'Goral' (highlander) culture is very active here, visible in the traditional music and local handicrafts. Foodies should try the local smoked ham and traditional yeast cakes known as 'kołacz'. Wisła is easily reachable by car or train from Katowice or Bielsko-Biała. The town is busiest during the winter ski season and the summer hiking months. Compared to the Tatra resorts, Wisła provides a more relaxed atmosphere while still providing top-tier facilities for outdoor recreation.
