Krościenko nad Dunajcem is a characterful mountain town located at the meeting point of the Pieniny, Gorce, and Beskid Sądecki ranges. Founded in 1348, it features a historic market square with a 14th-century Gothic church. The town is primarily known as a hub for the Dunajec River rafting, where visitors board traditional wooden rafts to navigate the spectacular limestone gorge. Hikers find Krościenko an excellent base for trails leading to the iconic Three Crowns (Trzy Korony) and Sokolica peaks, offering some of the best views in Poland. The town also features several mineral springs, such as Stefan and Michalina, which have been used for health treatments since the 1800s. It provides a peaceful alternative to nearby Szczawnica, preserving authentic Goral folklore and traditions. The best time for rafting and hiking is from late spring to early autumn.
