Gubin is located right on the Polish-German border, forming a European twin-city together with the German town of Guben. Its most iconic landmark is the ruin of the 14th-century parish church, once one of the largest Gothic brick churches in the region, now serving as a memorial and cultural hub. Despite the heavy destruction of WWII, the old town preserves its medieval layout, including fragments of defensive walls and historic watchtowers. A walk along the Neisse River features beautiful views of both sides of the border, connecting the parks of both municipalities. Gastronomically, Gubin gives a mix of Polish heartiness, such as pierogi, with regional Lower Lusatian influences. The best time to visit is during summer when various cross-border cultural festivals are held. The town is well-connected by regional trains from Zielona Góra or simply by walking across the bridge from the center of Guben.
