Church of Saint Peter and Paul (North Macedonia)

Weather…

The Church of Saint Peter and Paul is the central Orthodox cathedral in Kičevo and an outstanding example of early 20th-century religious architecture. Completed in 1907, the current structure was built on the site of an older, smaller church to accommodate the growing congregation. The architectural design follows a three-aisled basilica plan, featuring a large central dome and a distinct bell tower that is visible from across the city. The interior is renowned for its ornate iconostasis, carved by masters of the famous Debar woodcarving school, and contains a collection of significant icons. As the spiritual heart of the Orthodox community in Kičevo, the church hosts major liturgical events and cultural gatherings. Despite sustaining some damage during the World Wars, the building has been meticulously restored to maintain its historical integrity and artistic splendor.
