Posbank (Netherlands)

Weather…

The Posbank is a famous viewpoint at an altitude of about 90 meters within the Veluwezoom National Park in the province of Gelderland. Named after Mr. Pos, the first chairman of the Dutch tourism association ANWB, the site provides a spectacular view over the IJssel valley as far as the hills of Kleve in Germany. The landscape is characterized by vast heathlands that bloom in a spirited purple during August, giving the area an almost alpine appearance. Geologically, it is part of a glacial push moraine responsible for the steep inclines and deep valleys in this region. Veluwezoom is the oldest national park in the Netherlands and was placed under protection as early as 1930. Numerous hiking and cycling paths lead through the area, with the Posbank often serving as a starting point for tours through the adjacent forests and sand drifts. The architecture of the pavilion there blends harmoniously into nature and is a popular destination for visitors from all over the country.
