Api Nampa Conservation Area is located in the far northwestern Nepal in Darchula District, near the border with Tibet. It was established in 2010 and covers an area of about 1,903 square kilometers. The protected area encompasses peaks Api (7,132 m) and Nampa (6,755 m), as well as glaciers, valleys, and alpine meadows. Elevation ranges from 500 to 7,132 meters. Wildlife includes snow leopards, Himalayan blue sheep, tahr, musk deer, and over 150 bird species. The area is also known for its cultural diversity, with communities such as Byansi and Shauka. The conservation area is managed in collaboration with local communities. Activities include trekking, birdwatching, and cultural tours. Api Nampa is important for the protection of high-altitude ecosystems.
