Quirimbas National Park in northern Mozambique is a paradise for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility. It spans a chain of 32 islands as well as a significant coastal strip on the mainland. The islands are surrounded by pristine coral reefs, among the most diverse in the Indian Ocean, attracting divers and snorkelers from around the world. The combination of turquoise water, white sand, and a fascinating history makes this place unique. Beyond maritime splendor, the park features extensive mangrove and coastal forests home to various land animals, including elephants and leopards. One of the most famous islands is Ibo, once a major trading center. Here, visitors can wander through historical ruins and admire the craft of silversmiths who have been creating filigree jewelry for generations. Protecting the turtles that nest on the park's beaches is a central conservation effort. Accommodations in the park range from rustic eco-lodges to exclusive private islands.
