Mineral del Chico

Mineral del Chico is one of Mexico's oldest mining towns and the heart of the country's first national park. Adventurers come here to climb the massive rock formations like 'Las Ventanas' or to hike the numerous forest trails. The village itself retains its colonial charm with red-roofed houses and cobbled streets. The tranquility of the surrounding coniferous forests provides a great escape from the hustle of Mexico City. Culinarially, the region is famous for its wild mushroom dishes and trout raised in local streams. Access is best by car from Pachuca via a winding, scenic road. The best time to visit is from October to March when days are clear and nights are refreshingly cool, well-suited for enjoying a campfire in one of the local cabins.
