💡 Tips
- There is absolutely no natural shade here; bring an umbrella or a pop-up tent if you plan to stay for more than a quick swim.
- The access road is extremely narrow and rough; many visitors prefer to park at the top and walk the last 15 minutes down.
- The rocks can get slippery when wet; wear water shoes for easier access in and out of the sea.
- The water is deep enough for jumping in most places, but always check the sea conditions and watch where the locals jump first.
🍽 Food
There are usually no permanent facilities or kiosks right at the pool, so pack plenty of water, snacks, and a picnic before you arrive.
Drive to the nearby fishing village of Marsaxlokk after your swim to try Lampuki (dorado), especially if you visit in late summer or autumn.
The waterfront in Marsaxlokk is lined with fantastic restaurants offering the freshest catch; look for places busy with locals.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Head to the famous open-air market in nearby Marsaxlokk for local lace, nougat, and honey.
While at the market, pick up small painted replicas of the traditional Maltese fishing boats with the Eye of Osiris.
If St. Peter's Pool is too crowded, hike further along the Delimara peninsula to find this quieter, equally beautiful cove.
Walk past the main jumping spots to the left or right to find extensive flat rock surfaces where you can sunbathe in peace.
Water temperature…
St. Peter's Pool is one of Malta's most beautiful and unique natural swimming pools, located at the tip of Delimara Point near Marsaxlokk. Carved into the flat limestone by centuries of sea erosion, it gives a deep horseshoe-shaped basin with crystal-clear azure waters well-suited for snorkeling and cliff jumping. The surrounding flat rocks provide ample space for sunbathing, although there is very little natural shade available. Access is best achieved by car or boat, as public transport options are limited and involve a significant walk from the village. Visitors should bring their own food, water, and sun protection, as there are no commercial facilities on-site. The area is popular with locals on weekends but remains a tranquil spot during weekdays. The nearby village of Marsaxlokk is famous for its fish market and traditional luzzu boats, making it a convenient stop after a swim.
