Kalanka Bay (Malta)

Weather…

Kalanka Bay, located on the Delimara Peninsula in southeastern Malta, is a remote and pristine bay renowned for its distinct layered limestone formations. Unlike the nearby Peter’s Pool, Kalanka often provides more space and features a deeper, naturally carved swimming area. The bay is enclosed by high cliffs that have been eroded over millennia into stepped terraces, which are popular for sunbathing. Nearby stands the landmark Delimara Lighthouse, built in 1854 during the British colonial period to guide vessels into Marsaxlokk Harbour. The surrounding area remains largely undeveloped, offering rugged views of the open Mediterranean Sea. Due to the lack of sandy beaches, the water here is exceptionally clear, making it a prime spot for snorkeling along the submerged rock faces. Access to the bay is via a narrow road winding through the peninsula’s sparse, rocky landscape.
