Kong Lor Cave is an impressive natural wonder explored by boat. Visitors can travel the entire 7.5 km length of the cave on an underground river. Guided tours are mandatory and arranged by local operators.

Getting there
Kong Lor is in Khammouane province, about 50 km north of Thakhek. The best way to get there is by motorbike or taxi from Thakhek. The road is partly unpaved, so a 4WD is recommended. Parking is available at the cave entrance.
Insider tip
Bring waterproof clothing and a flashlight, as the cave is very dark in sections. Wear sturdy footwear that can get wet, as the boat dock can be slippery. Book the tour in advance, especially during peak season.
