The Mirusha Waterfalls are located in central Kosovo and are among the country's most beautiful natural phenomena. Over millennia, the Mirusha River has carved a chain of 16 lakes and numerous waterfalls into the soft limestone. The canyon stretches for about 10 kilometers and is protected as a natural monument. The highlight for visitors is the lower part of the park, where the highest waterfall (approx. 22 meters) plunges into a deep, turquoise lake. In summer, many locals use the lakes for swimming and the surrounding rocks as natural diving boards. The white limestone walls offer a dramatic contrast to the blue of the water and the green vegetation. Hiking trails lead along the canyon to the higher lakes and caves. The region is also ecologically valuable, providing habitat for rare plant species and numerous birds of prey. The park is a popular destination for picnics and family outings. Near the main entrance, there are restaurants offering local grill specialties. Despite its popularity, the area has maintained a wild and untouched character. Access is best via the road between Pristina and Gjakova, near the town of Klina. From the parking areas, an approximately 15-minute walk leads to the first large lake. The best time to visit is late spring, when the waterfalls have the highest water volume, or mid-summer for swimming. Sturdy footwear is essential for explorations off the main paths.
