Veroli's patron saint festival honouring the city's patroness Santa Maria Salome, held from 24 to 26 May with processions and religious celebrations.
Veroli is an appealing medieval town in the province of Frosinone, perched on a hill overlooking the Sacco Valley. With ancient roots as the Hernician settlement of Verulae, the town has historically served as a significant religious and cultural center. A standout monument is the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea, built upon the remains of a Roman temple and housing a treasury filled with priceless medieval relics. Veroli is also home to the Biblioteca Giovardiana, founded in 1773, which is one of Italy's oldest public libraries, containing over 20,000 volumes and rare incunabula. Just a few kilometers from the town center lies the famous Casamari Abbey, a premier example of Gothic-Cistercian architecture in Italy. The town is further distinguished by its 'Scala Santa' (Holy Stairs) in the Church of Santa Maria Salome, granted the same spiritual privileges as those in Rome by Pope Benedict XIV. Today, Veroli attracts visitors with its intact medieval urban fabric and deep-seated spiritual traditions.
