Monte Tobbio (Italy)

Weather…

Monte Tobbio is a prominent peak standing at 1,092 meters in the heart of the Capanne di Marcarolo Natural Park, on the border between Piedmont and Liguria. It is distinguished by its pyramidal shape and its barren, rugged landscape, resulting from the presence of ophiolitic rock (serpentinite). This geology prevents dense forest growth, giving the mountain an almost alpine appearance despite its modest height. At the summit sits the small church of Nostra Signora di Caravaggio, built in 1892, which serves as a notable landmark. From this vantage point, an extraordinary 360-degree panoramic view unfolds, stretching from the Genoese coast across the Po Valley to the entire Alpine chain. Historically, the region was a stronghold for partisans during World War II, imbuing the mountain with significant symbolic value. Numerous hiking trails traverse the wild terrain, which is characterized by small rivers and lakes.
