Vecsés is a prominent town in Pest County, situated southeast of Budapest with an area of 36.17 square kilometers. Historically recognized for its Swabian (German) roots since populations were resettled here in 1786, the town maintains strong cultural traditions. Vecsés is nationally famous for its traditional pickled cabbage (sauerkraut), an artisanal craft preserved by the local minority for centuries. Geographically, Vecsés plays a critical role in Hungary's transport infrastructure. A major portion of the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport falls within its administrative boundaries, making the town a logistics powerhouse. Supported by the junction of Highway 4 and the M0 motorway, large expanses of its borders are dominated by cargo centers and aviation service facilities. Vecsés officially received town status in 2001, effectively balancing its rustic agricultural legacy with the high-paced demands of global transit and modern supply chain operations.
