Weather…

The Aggtelek Karst and Slovak Karst cave systems have been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995. The primary attraction is the Baradla Cave, Central Europe's longest stalactite cave system, spanning approximately 25 kilometers in total. Part of the system extends across the border into Slovakia, where it is known as the Domica Cave. The caverns feature massive limestone formations, columns, and 'draperies' formed over millions of years. Visitors can choose from various guided tours, ranging from short walks on paved, illuminated paths to multi-hour adventure treks through unlit sections. One of the most impressive areas is the Concert Hall, which is home to exceptional acoustics and frequently hosts classical music performances. Due to the constant internal temperature of 10-11 degrees Celsius and high humidity, warm clothing is essential even during the summer months. Above ground, the national park gives numerous nature trails highlighting the unique flora and fauna of the karst landscape. Hikers can observe geological features like limestone pavements and sinkholes while visiting local museums to learn about the region's rural architecture. Aggtelek is located north of Miskolc, directly on the Slovak border, and is easily accessible by car or regional bus services.
