The Zsóry Bath is located on the outskirts of Mezőkövesd and is home to a history of over 80 years. The spring was discovered in 1939 on the estate of Lajos Zsóry during oil exploration, but instead of oil, 60 °C medicinal water surfaced. It has the highest sulfur content in Northern Hungary and is officially recognized for its effectiveness in treating rheumatic conditions, joint inflammation, and skin diseases. The spa is situated within a spacious 11-hectare landscaped park. Beyond its thermal waters, Mezőkövesd is the world-renowned center of Matyó folk art, which is part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Visitors should explore the Matyó Museum and the 'Hadas' district, where original old houses serve as workshops for traditional embroidery and pottery. The bustling, floral Matyó patterns are iconic symbols of the region. This cultural richness adds a unique dimension to any spa holiday in Zsóry. Easily accessible via the M3 motorway, it is about a 90-minute drive from Budapest. While the outdoor adventure pools and wave pool are most popular in summer, the medical facilities operate year-round. Local dining features traditional Matyó and Palóc specialties, often accompanied by regional wines. Zsóry is where healing waters and living folk traditions meet to create a memorable travel experience.
