Kallithea, which translates to "beautiful view," is the most visited town on the Kassandra peninsula. Perched on a terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea, it features wide vistas of the Toroneos Gulf. A historic gem is the Sanctuary of Ammon Zeus, an archaeological site located right on the beach dating back to the 4th century BC. Also of interest are the ruins of the early Christian Basilica of Solinas. The town is the undisputed center of nightlife in Halkidiki. Located about two kilometers outside the center are Northern Greece's largest open-air clubs, hosting international DJs throughout the summer. Kallithea's beach is famous for its fine white sand and crystal-clear, shallow waters, making it a favorite for families and water sports enthusiasts alike. The town center is packed with souvenir shops, fur boutiques, and various dining options ranging from traditional taverns to fast food. Its proximity to the pretty village of Afytos (about 3 km away) makes Kallithea an excellent base for local exploration. The drive from Thessaloniki takes approximately one hour.
