Rosenberg, now an integral part of the town of Sulzbach-Rosenberg, is located in the central Upper Palatinate. The town's history is inextricably linked to iron ore mining and iron processing, which earned the region the nickname 'Bavarian Ruhr Area.' For decades, Rosenberg was defined by the Maxhütte, one of Germany's most significant ironworks, which decisively shaped the social and architectural structure of the district. Despite the decline of heavy industry, Rosenberg has preserved its industrial cultural pride. A striking landmark is the Sacred Heart Church, perched majestically above the workers' settlements. Numerous traces of mining can be found in the surrounding area, some of which have been developed into hiking trails. Today, Rosenberg serves as an important residential and commercial site within the twin town, with an increasing focus on modern technologies and services. The integration of Sulzbach and Rosenberg in 1934 created a strong community that combines tradition and modernity within the Upper Palatinate Jura landscape.
