Bakuriani

Bakuriani is a beautiful mountain resort town in southern Georgia, located on the northern slopes of the Trialeti Range at an altitude of about 1700 meters. Originally the training center for the Soviet Olympic ski team, it has now become one of the country's most popular four-season destinations, especially favored by families. Thanks to the dense pine forests, the air is crystal clear and has a healing effect, making the area great not only for sports but also for rest and recreation. In the winter season, excellent ski slopes, sledding opportunities, and snowmobile tours attract most visitors, while in the summer months, hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking take center stage. Local gastronomy is based on traditional Georgian flavors, with plenty of fresh local dairy products, cheeses, and warming soups that can be tasted in the restaurants of comfortable mountain guesthouses. Bakuriani is easily accessible from both Tbilisi and Kutaisi by car or minibus. One of its main tourist attractions is the historic narrow-gauge railway, the "Kukushka", which runs between Borjomi and Bakuriani through photogenic forest landscapes. The best time for skiing is from December to March, while the pleasant mountain climate provides a well-suited refuge from the heat in summer too.
