Nkok Special Economic Zone

The Nkok Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a landmark industrial project in Gabon, designed to diversify the national economy and promote the export of value-added products. Located approximately 27 kilometers east of Libreville, the zone was established in 2010 as a public-private partnership between the Republic of Gabon and Olam International. The primary focus of the Nkok SEZ is on timber processing, and it has become the largest industrial cluster for plywood and veneer production in Africa. Following the 2010 ban on raw log exports, Nkok became the central site for companies processing Gabonese tropical wood locally. The zone features state-of-the-art infrastructure, its own power plant, access to the Trans-Gabon Railway, and attractive fiscal incentives for investors. With over 100 companies from various countries operating within its borders, Nkok has created thousands of jobs and positioned Gabon as a significant player in the global timber industry.
