Ariane 6 Launch Complex (ELA-4) (French Guiana)

Weather…

The ELA-4 (Ensemble de Lancement Ariane 4) launch complex is the newest and most modern infrastructure at the Guiana Space Centre, developed specifically for the Ariane 6 launcher. Spanning 170 hectares, the complex marks a technological leap in European spaceflight logistics. Unlike previous facilities, the integration of rocket stages here is performed horizontally in a new assembly building before the rocket is moved to the pad. A defining feature of ELA-4 is the mobile service tower (Mobile Gantry), which weighs 8,200 tons and stands 90 meters tall, making it one of the largest movable structures in the world. This tower protects the rocket during launch preparations and is rolled back shortly before liftoff. The facility was designed to increase launch frequency and reduce operational costs, ensuring Ariane 6's competitiveness in the global market.
