An exciting adventure for all ages to discover the treasures of the Seine-Maritime region through fun and interactive challenges.
Canteleu is a welcoming commune in Normandy, Seine-Maritime department, perched on a strategic plateau overlooking the city of Rouen and a broad loop of the River Seine. Its elevated position has earned it the nickname 'the balcony of Rouen,' providing panoramic views that have inspired artists for centuries. The town is globally famous in literary circles as the home of Gustave Flaubert; his family's country house in the riverside hamlet of Croisset (part of Canteleu) was where he spent most of his writing life, producing works like 'Madame Bovary.' Architecturally, the town features the 17th-century Château of Canteleu, a fine example of classical French design. Much of the municipality is covered by the lush Roumare Forest, a designated regional natural heritage site that has extensive hiking and cycling trails. Modern Canteleu is an animated part of the Rouen metropolitan area, balancing its identity as a 'green suburb' with the economic dynamism of the nearby Seine valley industries. It remains a preferred residential area for those seeking proximity to the city while living amidst historical and natural beauty.
