Neuville-lès-Dieppe is a lively maritime district forming the eastern part of the port city of Dieppe in Normandy. Perched atop the iconic chalk cliffs of the Alabaster Coast, it features some of the most dramatic views in northern France. Formerly an independent commune, Neuville merged with Dieppe in 1980 but has retained its distinct personality, deeply rooted in the fishing industry. It serves as the residential heart for many local seafaring families and hosts several port-related industries and workshops. The architectural landscape is a mix of traditional Norman brick houses and 20th-century residential developments. A key site is the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours, a place of pilgrimage for sailors that overlooks the entire harbor and the English Channel. Economically, the area is tied to the maritime economy of Dieppe, including fishing, cross-channel ferry services, and seafood processing. The cliffside paths (GR21) offer sweeping hiking opportunities, making Neuville a favorite for nature lovers and photographers seeking to capture the essence of the rugged Norman coast.
