Located just north of Nancy in the Grand Est region, the town of Champigneulles holds a special place in French industrial history as the traditional heart of Lorraine's brewing industry. For much of the 20th century, the town was widely known as the Capital of Beer, driven by the massive production of the historic Brasserie de Champigneulles founded in 1897. Today, the monumental brick architecture of the historic brewery complex still dominates the townscape, standing as a proud testament to its industrial golden age. Walking through the town center, visitors can observe the distinct contrast between the modest historical workers' cottages and the grand villas once owned by brewery executives. Beyond its industrial heritage, Champigneulles has beautiful natural retreats. The extensive parklands surrounding the Château de Champigneulles provide a peaceful green sanctuary with mature trees and tranquil walking paths excellent for an afternoon stroll. For outdoor enthusiasts, the expansive Forêt de Haye borders the town, offering excellent networks of trails for hiking and mountain biking. The nearby Marne-Rhine Canal adds a scenic waterside element, featuring a historic port area that is handy for a leisurely waterside walk.
