Villemandeur is a key municipality in the Loiret department, situated in the heart of the Gâtinais region, immediately west of Montargis. Historically, the area shows signs of human settlement dating back to the Roman era, but its major development occurred during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The town is distinguished by the Château de Plateville, an impressive Renaissance-era castle surrounded by water-filled moats, reflecting the wealth of its former lords.
