Getting there
The national park is best reached via the paved highway linking Bata to Evinayong, followed by dirt access roads leading to the park headquarters. Hiring local transport or a sturdy 4x4 is advisable, as the final stretch can be rough and poorly maintained.
Best season
The drier months between December and February generally offer the most accessible trails and slightly lower humidity levels for jungle trekking. The extended rainy seasons make the dense rainforest extremely wet, significantly increasing the presence of mud.

The environment consists of undulating forested hills, thick lowland tropical rainforest, and deeply rutted natural trails shaped by heavy rainfall. Trekking here involves constantly navigating over massive fallen tree trunks and crossing small jungle streams.
What to bring
Breathable long-sleeved clothing, high-quality waterproof hiking boots, and heavy-duty insect repellent are crucial for comfort and protection. Bringing plenty of drinking water, a good headlamp, and a basic medical kit for minor scrapes is also highly advised.

Parking is typically available right at the park's official visitor center or headquarters, where rangers coordinate entries and manage security. It is highly advised not to leave vehicles unattended on remote logging roads outside the designated park areas.

Exploration inside the dense rainforest mandates the accompaniment of an official park ranger to prevent losing orientation in the vast wilderness. Visitors should be extremely aware of local wildlife behavior and take precautions against tropical insects and leeches.
Time needed
Short guided botanical walks around the headquarters generally take two to four hours, allowing visitors a glimpse of the rich biodiversity. More extensive wildlife tracking excursions require a full day or potentially multi-day overnight jungle camping setups.
