Moba, formerly known as Baudouinville, is a port town and territory in Tanganyika province on the southwestern shore of Lake Tanganyika. The town is tucked away on the slopes of the Marungu Mountains, which drop steeply into the lake, creating a dramatic landscape. Moba serves as a key transit point for trade across Lake Tanganyika, particularly for fishing and agricultural products from its fertile hinterland. During the colonial era, the town was a prominent center for Catholic missions, still reflected today in the architecture of its cathedral.
