The Prague Botanical Garden, located in the Troja district, is a modern scientific and educational institution founded in 1969. Spanning approximately 30 hectares, the garden presents an impressive variety of plant collections from various climatic zones across the Earth. Its outstanding landmark is the Fata Morgana tropical greenhouse, which opened in 2004. It is 130 meters long and divided into three different temperature zones representing the flora of tropical mountains, rainforests, and arid regions. Another historical component is the Vineyard of St. Clare, one of the oldest vineyards in Prague, offering a panoramic view of Troja Castle and the Vltava River. The garden also features a Japanese garden, collections of irises and peonies, and a North American prairie section. In addition to preserving endangered plant species, the garden serves as a venue for seasonal exhibitions, such as the popular butterfly show in the greenhouse. The combination of its hillside location, historical viticulture, and state-of-the-art greenhouse technology makes it one of the most attractive botanical gardens in Central Europe.
