Sychrov Castle (Czech Republic)

Weather…

Sychrov Castle is located in the Liberec Region and stands as one of the most significant examples of Neo-Gothic architecture in the Czech Republic. Originally built as a Baroque manor, it was purchased in 1820 by the French noble Rohan family, who extensively remodeled the structure over several decades in the spirit of French Romanticism. The interior is distinguished by the exquisite woodcarvings of master Petr Bušek, which adorn nearly every room with intricate detailing and craftsmanship. During the 19th century, the castle served as a cultural hub, with the composer Antonín Dvořák being a frequent guest who visited the estate nine times. The castle is surrounded by a 26-hectare English-style landscape park containing rare tree species and romantic garden structures. Today, the estate is state-owned and preserves an extensive gallery of French noble portraits and a historic library housing over 11,000 volumes.
