Český Krumlov Castle is the second largest castle complex in the Czech Republic and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. Perched on a rocky cliff overlooking the Vltava River, it consists of 40 buildings and palaces organized around five courtyards. Founded in the mid-13th century by the Lords of Krumlov, it later served as the main seat for powerful noble families such as the Rosenbergs, Eggenbergs, and Schwarzenbergs. A standout feature is the Baroque Theater, built in 1766, which remains one of the most perfectly preserved in the world, complete with its original stage machinery, backdrops, and costumes. The complex also features a sprawling seven-hectare castle garden containing a late Baroque fountain and a unique revolving auditorium for open-air performances. Its architecture seamlessly blends Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements, making it a masterpiece of Central European history.
