Mount Kleť
Mount Kleť, at 1,084 meters, is the highest peak of the Blanský Forest in South Bohemia and a prominent landmark of the Český Krumlov region. At its summit stands the oldest stone lookout tower in the Czech Republic, the Josef Tower, built as early as 1825. In addition to the historical tower, a 172-meter-high television tower dominates the mountain's silhouette. Kleť is internationally famous for its observatory, founded in 1957, which specializes in the discovery of asteroids and comets. A chairlift leads from Krasetín to the summit, spanning a length of 1,752 meters. From the top, in clear weather, there is a spectacular panorama extending from the peaks of the Bohemian Forest to the distant Alps. The mountain is part of a nature reserve and is a popular destination for hikers, cyclists, and cross-country skiers in winter.
