💡 Tips
- Sunset is the most magical (and popular) time to visit, but arriving at sunrise provides a completely private experience.
- The pebble beach can be hard on the feet; bring water shoes if you plan to walk along the shore or swim.
- The sea here has strong undercurrents; swimming around the rock itself is often discouraged for safety reasons.
- Park in the designated lot on the inland side of the road and use the pedestrian tunnel to safely reach the beach.

Aphrodite's Rock, locally known as Petra tou Romiou ('Rock of the Greek'), is one of Cyprus's most iconic landmarks. It is located on the southwest coast between Limassol and Paphos. According to legend, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, rose from the sea foam here. The imposing limestone formation in the azure water attracts thousands of visitors annually, many hoping to gain eternal beauty by swimming around the rock. The name 'Petra tou Romiou' refers to a later legend of the Byzantine hero Basil (Digenis Akritas), who is said to have hurled giant rocks into the sea to ward off Saracen pirates. Geologically, it is an erosional landscape featuring prominent sea stacks. The beach itself consists of coarse pebbles, and the sea can be quite rough here due to currents, so caution is advised when swimming. Visitors reach the site via the old B6 coastal road. A small tunnel safely connects the parking area and visitor center on the landward side to the beach. The site provides a spectacular panorama, especially at sunset. The best time to visit is year-round, although it can be very crowded during the day in high summer, making early morning or late afternoon visits preferable.
