Tribanj is a community consisting of several small hamlets (such as Kruščica, Šibuljina, and Sveta Marija Magdalena), stretching along the scenic coastal road at the foot of the mighty Velebit massif. This location is unique in Croatia, connecting the rugged mountain world directly with the seashore. The water in the Velebit Channel is cooler and extremely clean due to numerous underwater springs (vrulje). The history of Tribanj is closely linked to mountain livestock farming and seafaring. In the higher parts of the village, there are impressive examples of dry-stone architecture (suhozid) and historical paths that once connected the coast with summer pastures in Velebit. The 12th-century Church of St. Mary Magdalene is a significant Romanesque architectural monument on the coast. For nature lovers and hikers, Tribanj is a handy starting point for excursions into Paklenica National Park, which is only about 10 kilometers away. The beaches here are mostly rocky or covered with coarse pebbles, offering absolute tranquility. Local gastronomy serves specialties such as Velebit honey, lamb, and aromatic mountain herbs. Tribanj is the excellent place for those seeking the combination of a mountain and sea holiday.
