💡 Tips
- Watch for the 'Bura Cap' (clouds on Velebit peaks); it signals the arrival of the strong, cold northeasterly wind.
- If a storm is predicted, park your car facing the wind to prevent the door from being ripped out of your hand.
- Visit the waterfront (Riva) at sunset when the Velebit mountains turn shades of pink and orange.
- The ruins of the Ljubljana fortress offer a fantastic panoramic view over the Velebit Channel.
- The sea water is exceptionally clear here due to the Bura wind, though it's often cooler than in other regions.

Ražanac is located in Northern Dalmatia on the shores of the Velebit Channel, about 22 kilometers from Zadar. The town's primary attraction is its untouched nature and incredibly clear sea, which remains crystal clear due to the currents in the channel and the fresh winds blowing from the Velebit Mountains. The sight of the Velebit massif towering on the opposite side of the channel provides one of the most dramatic backdrops on the entire Croatian coast. The village's history is closely linked to defense against the Turks. The fortress (Kaštel) was built on the shore in the 16th century, and its three towers and wall fragments are still visible today, serving as the town's symbol. The old town has preserved its authentic Dalmatian character with stone houses and narrow streets. Ražanac is not a mass tourism destination; it attracts those seeking peace, fresh air, and genuine local experiences. The surrounding beaches are mostly pebbly or rocky and are excellent for snorkeling due to the richness of underwater life. The settlement is also famous for its agricultural products, especially its red wine and cheese from the nearby island of Pag. Due to its central location, Ražanac is an excellent base for exploring Paklenica National Park, a paradise for rock climbers, yet it remains easily accessible via the nearby Zadar airport. The fresh fish and seafood offered in local taverns represent the best of Dalmatian cuisine.
