Water temperature…
Saršoni is situated on the hills above the port city of Rijeka, within the municipality of Viškovo. Set in a forested area, it gives much fresher air and a significantly calmer environment than the nearby coast. Over recent decades, Saršoni has transitioned from a small agricultural village into a popular residential community while successfully retaining its original rural charm. Culturally, the area is inseparable from the 'Halubajski zvončari' (the Halubje bell-ringers), whose annual carnival procession is recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Although the administrative center is in Viškovo, the residents of Saršoni are deeply involved in preserving these archaic customs. The surroundings are crisscrossed with numerous hiking trails and paths, making it a paradise for nature lovers and mountain bikers. Historically, Saršoni was part of the Kastav territory, sharing its rich heritage of craftsmanship and farming. Visitors appreciate the settlement as a peaceful retreat from which the center of Rijeka or the beaches of the Opatija Riviera can be reached in just minutes. Local taverns (konobas) serve authentic Kvarner region dishes, including handmade pasta (šurlice) and venison specialties. With improved infrastructure, Saršoni is well-connected today, yet it remains a place where nature starts right at your doorstep. It is a convenient spot for travelers wanting to experience the authentic lifestyle of the Kvarner hinterland while staying within reach of urban conveniences.
