Liganj is situated at approximately 300 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Učka. This location makes it a convenient starting point for hikers wishing to summit Vojak, the highest peak. The village has preserved its original architectural character with stone houses and gives significantly cooler and fresher air than the coastal resorts. Historically, the settlement was closely linked to maritime trade and the cultivation of Lovran's famous chestnuts (Maruni). Every October, the village plays a role during Marunada, the region's renowned chestnut festival. Residents still maintain the tradition of terraced farming, where grapes and olives thrive. Visitors reach Liganj via a winding road from Lovran. There are no large hotels; instead, high-quality holiday homes and private apartments guarantee peace away from mass tourism. From many vantage points in the village, one can overlook the islands of Krk and Cres, as well as the entire Rijeka Bay.
