The settlement's name derives from the Latin 'murus' (wall) or the Croatian 'mir' (peace), perfectly reflecting its quiet atmosphere. The village consists of an old part on the hillside with traditional stone houses and a newer part directly by the sea. The beaches in Mirca are mostly pebbly, with crystal-clear water and plenty of shade from old pine trees.
